Website Technology Projects & Research

In the middle of 2006 Don Cormier and Blair Colbey began to have conversations about how webmastering could be made easy for customers. Though at that time, even though Doncor.com was already producing incredible content management systems for our customers, both men strongly agreed that content management needed to be made even more accessible.

Our team also felt that there were just too many elements for the average Internet user to consider when building a website. “I've yet to see a week where I haven't heard of someone losing their domain name because they didn't understand the e-mail that was sent” says Don. But even (FTP) file transfer protocols, hosting services etc. were all mildly beyond the grasp of the average Internet users understanding.

Understanding the needs of our small business customers wasn't the challenge. The challenge was given them a product that they could understand without having to take some kind of night course on the basics of website management. We believed that it should be as easy as putting an ad in the Yellow Pages.

So why not build something that was all-inclusive, something that was easy to use and most importantly, something they understood. We have probably had hundreds of conversations with our customers, where they interrupted us while explaining something, asking us to speak plain English.

The Birth of a Great Idea

Thus was born the idea of an all-inclusive product that would include a domain name, unlimited e-mail addresses, a 100% content manageable website, hosting, search engine optimization, and marketing tools to accelerate the growth of their online presence. More than that, it would finally be something that our customers could understand. To us that was the most important aspect of this entire project.

CMSIntelligence became the world's first evolving technology platform to support websites. Not only was it going to be the most advanced content management system available to the marketplace, the goal was also to make it the most usable interface possible.

A Recent Case Study

Xsite Software, a software company out of St. Catherine's Ontario approached us requesting our services. Now, I don't know about you, but when a software company approaches a website design company to provide a content management system for their website, the question does arise; “Why is a software company with programming capability, coming to a web design company for their website?”

The answer was simple really. They didn't want their high paid software programmers wasting time managing a website.

They wanted their secretary to manage the website. David Cook, the owner of Xsite Software said; “Your system is by far the easiest system we seen so far.” and so they chose CMSIntelligence so their programmers could focus on what they do best, programming software.

To us this story is kind of like a trophy because it simply makes more sense. Websites shouldn't need to be handled by high-end programmers in a software company. It shouldn't be necessary to have an IT professional to manage something as simple as a website.

That's what we believe and stand on, because at Doncor.com were not just building websites. We're preparing people today for the things of tomorrow.
